Samsung Jet Bot can be controlled through the SmartThings App and set to clean itself automatically at times convenient to you. It is also possible to schedule to clean specific rooms or areas as well as establishing virtual no-go zones (and physical ones if you want). There are other great useful features of the 980, for instance the ability to set up the weekly schedule for cleaning and to play a sound to aid in finding your robot. There's a big “Clean” button on the front that'll get your robot started up and there are indicators that indicate when it's charged or connected to Wi-Fi and when it's full of bins. The 980 comes with basic spot cleaning features that can be used to clean up small spills. However, it does not offer the same amount of coverage as more sophisticated options. If you have wires that could be a danger to your robot, you can use the virtual wall feature to create a barrier that tells it to stay clear of them. The Roomba iRobot 960 from iRobot The name iRobot is almost synonymous with robot vacuums and the $700 Roomba 960 is somewhere in the middle of the brand's large range. It's less expensive than the flagship 980, yet it has many of the same features. It comes with the ability to use a camera for navigation and a mobile app that provides detailed cleaning maps. It also comes with a Virtual Wall, which creates an invisible barrier that the Roomba will avoid crossing. The 960 performed well, especially on floors that were not bare. It was able to absorb a lot of cat litter, food crumbs and tracked-in dirt. It's also adept at climbing over obstacles, such as stair runners and the legs of chairs and tables. It also took in pet fur, though it struggled with smaller pieces of debris, like baking soda. One thing that separates the 960 from other Roomba models is that it has an additional dustbin for large particles, which cuts down on maintenance requirements. You can empty it at the touch of a button, using the iRobot HOME app or by using Amazon Alexa or Google Assistant voice commands. You can make use of the iRobot HOME app to customize each cleaning cycle by setting the number of passes, and choose between different modes like edge clean or a full-room sweep. It also sends a notification when it's time to empty the dirt compartment. The 960 is easy to operate, using buttons on the top and buttons within the iRobot HOME app or through Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It is also easy to maintain, with an indicator of the battery's life on the top and docking technology that automatically removes debris from the dirt compartment into the bin when it's time to empty. The iRobot HOME app also shows you the location of each object it has gathered, and provides how-to videos for a variety of maintenance tasks. The battery life of the 960 may not be ideal, but it's good enough to let you enjoy it throughout the day without having to worry about recharging prior to the bedtime. The iRobot HOME app is available for both iOS and Android devices. The Roomba 970 from iRobot If you want a robot vacuum that automatically empty its own bin and is compatible with Google Home or Amazon Alexa, the Roomba 970 is worth checking out. It has the same advanced navigation system as other recent iRobot vacuums and can recognize stairs. It uses a centrally located camera to scan the floor as it moves, and can detect furniture walls, furniture and other obstacles. It can also use a virtual wall tool to set limits that the robot isn't able to cross. One of the main differences between this model and earlier Roomba models is the fact that it uses a lithium-ion battery rather than the nickel metal hydride batteries used in the older models. It can now run longer between charges and has more endurance in cleaning sessions. It's not as quick as the Shark AI Robot but it can navigate a space effortlessly. Like the other models of the 960 series the 970 can be operated via the iRobot app and can connect to your Wi-Fi connection with no installation needed. It has a small handle on the front of the device that you can use to manually return it to its charger, and a spot-cleaning button lets you focus on a specific part of your home. The 960 series models come with the same three-stage cleaning procedure as other current iRobot models, which combine the power of suction and agitation to thoroughly clean the floor and eliminate dirt. The 960 is great on clean floors. Its brushrolls and powerful vacuums are able to pick up a ton of dust, hair and other debris. It is unable to handle carpets with high pile and will to leave some sand inside its tunnel. It has an enormous dirt compartment that is able to be alerted when it is full either by an app or a light on the top of the robot. It can be programmed to clean on a schedule, and we found it easy to set it up during our tests.
